Walking in Pontyclun

Pontyclun is a great place to go walking. We have over 25 miles of public footpaths which are looked after and maintained by the Community Council with help from RCT CBC footpaths team

The Community Council have worked with The Ramblers to launch a series of Community Walking routes. The leaflets describling the routes are below and they will be signposted on the ground in early 2022. Initially 5 walks will go live covering the whole of the area of Pontyclun and showcase some of our great natural and man made sights with more to go live as they are developed.

The Penhrys Pilgimage way passes though our area going through Groesfaen on its way to Cross Inn. More information can be found at the Penhrys Pilgrimage Way website here

You can also walk along the cycleway that starts behind Pontyclun Railway Station. Follow the route towards Llantrisant and Pontypridd. This path crosses with the Taf Ely Ridgeway walk which runs just to the North of our Community which you can use to join the Taff Trail – or follow the cycleway down towards Upper Boat where you can join it directly

Also the Valeways Millenium Heritage Trail crosses into our area at Talygarn.
